Whether you have previously experienced counseling or are seeking counseling for the first time, there are often fears and unknowns attached to what the counseling process can look like. It can be helpful to have a picture in mind of what to generally expect when entering counseling.
Our first few sessions will serve as an introduction into your life, i.e. why you are seeking counseling at this time, what you hope for from this experience, what you hope for and expect from me as your therapist, as well as providing a good starting point that will build the basis for our therapeutic relationship.
This time can be a good opportunity for you to ask me questions about the counseling process and my role as your therapist. You can find out more about my style as a therapist under Therapeutic Approach.
For your first session, arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to fill out an Intake Form and read and sign a Disclosure Statement. I will have these forms ready for you in the waiting room. If you would prefer receiving these forms via email, let me know and I will send you the forms ahead of time. In that case, you can arrive to your first session at the time of your appointment with the forms already read, filled out and signed.
I look forward to meeting you and beginning this journey with you!
